9 Months

Can't believe he is 9 months. . . I know I said that last month, and the month before that - time really keeps going faster and faster... our parents told us it would, didn't they??

Well, Griffin Brashier is a very happy 9 month old. Still not crawling, but moving/rolling just fine. He now has 8 teeth (well, almost) and still prefers to eat what we are eating. As I am typing this, he is quite smoothly pushing himself backwards wherever he wants to go.

Other things the Griffinator does. . . when you say one, two, three - he starts smiling and kicking on the two b/c he knows something fun is going to happen. Usually I lift him up in the air over my head - unless my arms are too tired (he is 25# now) He LOVES baby einstein. When the caterpillar goes across the screen he starts smiling and getting excited. He is also very happy and content if he has big brother and big sister to watch!!

Trip to Birmingham

March 19, we took a mini-vacation to Birmingham. We kept it pretty simple, but really had a great time. We picked a hotel with the following criteria: 1. indoor pool, 2. 2 beds and a pull-out 3. close to target. So we ended up at a new Holiday Inn Express off 280. I would highly recommend it. Mary Blake and Collins would have been satisfied to stay in the hotel a week!

What Freedom Means

Mary Blake's Discovery class has been talking about freedom. They had to write what freedoms means to them. . . What Freedom Means By Mary Blake Brashier What freedom means to me is doing what I want. Without freedom my parents might not have my brothers and me. We could not draw or write what we want. We couldn't read what we want. We couldn't read the Bible or praise God. Freedom means choosing what we want. I want just that. I know I am biased, but I thought that was a pretty wise definition for an 8 year old!

Ohhhh Mary Blake

Do you see this sweet face?? Yesterday at the dr's office, I was trying to remind myself that this sweet, creative, delightful child was not possessed. . . That is harsh, you may think, but if you could call up Dr. Ireland he might agree.... So, yesterday I took the kids to make sure they didn't have strep - which they did. The first 15 minutes went smoothly - temp checked, weight checked, colored on the paper, laughed at dr ireland, etc. Got griff checked out (I mean why not - while we are there) and he had an ear infection. Great. Then Collins realized Dr. I had pulled out the long swabs. He started crying, but pulled it together when Dr. I promised a popsicle. Then came MB. Oh. my. word. The child fought the swab with all her might. I will spare you details, but a nurse ended up taking griffin for me, and 3 of us proceeded to hold MB down while Dr Ireland laid across her and pried her mouth open. This morning she woke up and said she had a bad dream. . . can you guess?? She dreamed she had to get swabbed again. . . poor girl. I did hug her and kiss her lots and lots and lots after the whole ordeal.

8 months

Can't believe he is 8 months. Time is certainly flying by. This week I discovered he has 2 more teeth coming in - this will be #5 and #6!! He is sitting up really well and can get where he wants to by scooting or rolling. No crawling yet (thankfully). He does have a lot of weight to move around. . . As for food, he is not that crazy about baby food. He would much rather have what everyone else is eating. For example, went to eat Mexican Tues night - do you think he was excited about the food I brought him??? Ended up ordering him a cheese tortilla. Before you get too concerned about all that grease - I only gave him about 1/4 of it. He was soooo happy - smacking his lips with each bite.

Taken care of. . .

Mary Blake LOVES to take care of Griffin. She covered him up with her favorite blanket (given to her by Aunt Lis when she was born) and dog dog tucked bedside him. Griffin was quite cozy.
